Roger Vivier Fall Couture 2009: Bags Bags Bags!

Bruno Frisoni is a man after our own hearts!  For the iconic shoe brand, Roger Vivier‘s Fall Couture Collection, he chose to focus on the ultimate accessory, the handbag.  Black feathers, agate stones, Lesage-embroidered clutches and other luxurious details make the line dramatic yet utterly wearable.  Frisoni explains his fascination with bags: “You can place them on a shelf, dress them up or undress them, hide your love letters in them.”  Okay, so the feathered piece on the upper left looks like a crazy mess but look closely and you’ll see the delicate chains are being held down by dragonflies!

I am most intrigued by the genuine gold leaf paint on the simple black crocodile bag, it’s like a glittering piece of jewel and has a very glamorous old world appeal.  The workmanship is incredible, I hope to one day see them in person–

haute couture bags are by custom order only so chances are slim but still… a snob can dream.  Source: WWD

  1. Oh my, these are darlings! Especially the two on the right. Indeed, dress them or undress them ( in my case probably the latter ). I´ve heard that other brands are also into these couture bags, prices naturally sky high. Sigh.

  2. Stunning! Perhaps true decadence is not dead afterall.

I love the fantasy and dreamlike details of the bags

  3. “You can place them on a shelf, dress them up or undress them, hide your love letters in them.”

I love this quote, and I think it truly shows the fascination, adoration and love for the bags. The bags are all serious eyecandies, with designs that are so fresh. I can’t wait to see them in person and be dazzled.

  4. so am i the only person who thinks that these bags are hideous?!? i mean, i understand the excitement over having a couture handbag, but these are fugly. maybe i need to see them in person (which is impossible…o well).

  5. I´m afraid you are ;). These are so not fugly at all. Beauties is the right word, and yes, I too would place them on a shelf, not in dustbags.

  6. i love the croc one! very cool how it resembles a much classier version of a zebra print. and each one would be slightly different according to the skin.

  7. I AGREES with you Michael on this one. I find nothing appealing regarding any of these. While the workmanship may be good, they are still ugly. Maybe they look different in person, but for some reason I thought Tina featured these as “SLOBS.” I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
