What is it with 8 year olds carrying Prada bags and iPhones? What do they have to look forward to in life? I don’t believe in caving in to the whims of youngsters– they need boundaries and those who don’t have boundaries often end… well you do not want to know where some of them end up!
Not that I think Coach is appropriate for little ones either but for teenagers it is acceptable if you can afford them that luxury. How cute is this kitschy little tote? Not for me but for, say, an 18 year old it’d be perfect!

There’s a similar party in San Francisco in July. Looking forward to it!
Every bag in the poppy collection is disgusting. I would love to know how much Coach paid you ladies to run this. Seriously love and rainbow keychains hanging from vommitous bags looking like they were designed by messy pre-school children. Admit it to yourselves, Coach is following in the path of Dooney and Bourke and is getting more and more gaudy each season.
LOL
Missy! We were not paid for this post! I have been waiting for a snob reader to call me out. I did this post as a favor to my friend, Second City Style editor Lauren Dimet Waters. She is hosting the event and asked me to help promote.
And I think you know how we feel about Coach though I do feel the Poppy collection is very high school worthy.
I had never bought a Coach bag before although they tend to be cheaper. In fact, they do look cheap. My favs are Dior & Tod’s.
I know a woman who buys her 12 yr old Chanel bags, it’s so obnoxious!
I wonder if she would like to adopt a 50 year old son? Sadly, I believe it.
I understand what you mean, Missy, but these bags are for the very young and it’s something they would like (at least for awhile). I bought a Coach bag about 15 years ago and have never bought one again. It was thrown into the far reaches of my closet and I recently gave it to my 10 year old niece to play with!!
P.S.: Coach bags are sold on QVC and they almost always sell out!!
I would argue that a novelty bag from any designer, snob or not, is usually ridiculous and not worth the money. As an 18 year old, I would never spend my money (or my parents’) on something as tacky as this Coach bag. However, I do use several of my mother’s older Coach bags because they are generally pretty well made and totally acceptable in understated blacks and browns, with a minimum of the omnipresent “C” logo.
I know teens who wouldn’t be caught dead with Coach bags. Now I see why..
Missy – agreed! The first thing I thought when I saw the Coach poppy collection is that they remind me of those horrible multi-colored Dooney & Burke bags. The entire poppy collection is an assault on my eyes. Personally, I feel like Coach already made brightly colored bags appropriate for teenagers and that there was no need to introduce a new line of over-the-top tackiness. I feel like these bags are targeting small children. I agree with Tina that the above tote is cute in a kitschy way (although I find it to be reminiscent of something from the Marc by Marc Jacobs line and thus not very original) but I think most 18 year olds would consider themselves way too old to be carrying it.
hmm… I see the spunk in this bag, but I’m not sure why anyone would buy it… eh, to each their own though!
