MTV Awards: Snob or Slob?

I missed the MTV Awards when they originally aired (I was at a dinner party that my friend Hugh — who was just featured in New York Magazine! — was hosting), but I recently caught it on repeat and woaaah! Was anyone else overwhelmed by the slob fashion choices? I think this was the first award show I’ve seen where there wasn’t one outfit that I wanted!

Why, why, why are all these stars wearing shoes with way too many straps!? These in particular are Paul & Joe Sister “Gypsi” shoes — eeck. The Elise Overland dress Ashley Tisdale is wearing is rather uninspired and I’m not even liking her Balenciaga belt and bag.

Here we are again with the strappy shoes. I don’t get the hoopla with Megan Fox. She’s not a good actress; she’s always looks like she’s in a bad mood, and yes she has a great body but does that warrant the cover of Elle?? Plus this gold strapless brocade cocktail dress from Dolce & Gabbana makes me think of really gaudy curtains.

Though I liked Miley Cyrus’ mermaid dress at the Oscars (most people said she was “worst dressed”), the teen sensation goes back to not dressing age-appropriate here. Her dress is from Moschino Cheap and Chic. They have so many fun outfits, I’m surprised her stylists couldn’t find something better. Is it me or does she look at least 15 years older in these pictures?

Cameron Diaz wore a Matthew Williamson Pre-Fall 09 blouse, J Brand “912” pencil leg jeans in Ink, and Giuseppe Zanotti blue suede ankle boots. I’m undecided about this one. It doesn’t blow me away, but she’s so gorgeous she can pull it off.
