Last Word on Water Bottles – SIGG is Best

The myriad of sippy cups taking up an entire area in your kitchen? Yeah, me too. I have not been able to find an acceptable sippy cup so I literally have tried them all. I take back my recommendation of Foogo, it leaks, the small parts are annoying and is heavy for what it is. The Safe Sippy is good, I like everything except that you cannot close it to put in your bag and it still has a plastic valve that gets gross and moldy. So, here is the last and final word: Sigg is the best. And here are my reasons why:

  1. BPA free
  2. No leaching – lining is a water-based, non-toxic coating
  3. No bacteria build up – which means, no stinky musty cups
  4. Clean, neutral taste every time, even after milk or fruit juice
  5. No valves and little parts
  6. Does not leak – twist spout closes tight, safe enough to put in your precious bag
  7. Easy to clean
  8. Lightweight
  9. Durable – will dent if thrown around but it does not affect the function
  10. Perfect for lunches
  11. Tots love them
  12. Huge variety of cute designs

It is not a “sippy cup” so is not suitable for infants and little tots, but if if your tot can hold a sippy and drink on her/his own, they are ready (around 1 year). There is a slight vacuum so water does not freely drip out of the open spout, so in that way it does acts like a sippy with a valve. The Sigg Baby Water Bottle (0.3-Liters) for $16.25 is small and cute and really easy for little tots to handle. They will not be able to twist the spout open on their own so you will need to help them. The Sigg Big Kids Water Bottle (0.6-Liters) for $19.99 is perfect for tots over 2. There are endless design options. The only problem I’ve had is, the lid will break off if your tot decides it must be so. The lid will still go back on but the hinge is broken so will not stay put. But I can live with that.

  1. I agree, my friend Susan brought back a Sigg water bottle for my son last year from Germany and it’s way better than the Foogo (that leaked all over my mini Samsung laptop in the car last week!) I use Sigg cups myself and have two bottles, one in pale pink and a red/pink Hello Kitty version you can buy at Wholefoods 🙂

  2. My daughter has the blue bottle which is in your photo(1st pic).No complaints here! Will get another for my toddler too.

  3. Sigg bottles are the best. A bit pricey, but worth every penny. Through May 31st, type harpo in the promotion/coupon code at mysigg.com and you will get 20% off. Plus there is free shipping over $50. What a great deal for a wonderful product.

  4. I love my SIGG bottle… expensive but you get what you pay for… i’m trying to figure the best water source to fill it with though 🙂
