Jil Sander bags generally have immunity with us– it’s hard to rag on its line of simply constructed bags but the Bubble Boudoin bag… this one is making me go… hummm. I don’t hate it; I find the cracked leather edgy and fun (a bit cheap looking when you see it in person though) but the handles give me major creeps. Too similar to a centipede, caterpillar and body parts that shall remain nameless; I’m just not feeling it. And it’s not because I am jaded, really! I’m very excited about a violet Tod’s python hobo I just got (so amazing I can’t stop looking at it and admiring it’s beauty!) and Givenchy’s entire spring bag line makes me drool every time I go to Barneys so it’s not me! I think the bag just lacks the just cause for its price tag of $1,595– it looks more like something from Forever 21 for $25. What do you think? Snob or Slob? At Barneys New York.
Good morning Tina,
You mentioning Givency gave rise to a question? Is the Givency sac (can’t remember if it’s sac or sacca) part of it’s classic line of bags? will it always be made? I never got around to getting the biggest size for myself – I’ve been too busy buying Prorsum RTW.
Oh! I really really wanted to like this bag because I LOVE Jil Sander bags, but this one-not so much. When you are using such a glossy patent you need to keep the texture simple or risk looking like some wet seal (yuck yuck yuck) reject. Also the handle IS creepy and caterpillary (ew) SLOB.
Aside from the odd caterpillar-type handles, the structure of this bag reminds me a little of the Fendi spy, without the flap of course.
I sort of like it — bet you can’t carry it on your shoulder though. Price a bit high????
I like it…the price is a little high though.
rfeally like the color of this hobo bag
Slob… i was liking the cracked look cause its an edge black bag but lookin at the handle and the price it makes me go hhhmmm and i could have barneys purlpe cards and wouldnt use them on that..haha
