Which came first? Pierre Hardy vs. Tila March

Pierre Hardy bags look eerily similar to Tila March bags to me. Both brands launched bi colored totes trimmed in leather in the summer of 2006. Is this a case of the Goliath brand appropriating the small, independent startup’s design? Or a more innocent coincidence? The materials vary and the price points do as well ($1455 for Hardy in neoprene at kirnazabete.com; $1385 for the leather version, and the canvas and leather Tila March bags are between $328 and $468 at shop.mickmargo.com). But the sizes are identical; the aesthetics nearly so. Given that much of design now can’t help but be derivative, are anyone’s toes being stepped on here?

And which one would you rather own?

DO YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT?

  1. The Pierre Hardy bag is my choice. I really don’t see any real similarities between these two bags. They have similar closures but that would be stretching it to deem it a copy.

  2. The similarity between these two is, that they are both unappealing to the eye. I wouldn´t choose either one of them.

  3. Pierre Hardy all the way. I have to admit the aesthetics are similar but not exact. Certainly enough to warrant a discussion considering they launched in the same season-
