Marc Jacobs Duffy Hadarrah and Duffy Shailah

I hate to think I drank the Kool-Aid at the Marc Jacobs show because I still believe I am being perfectly rational and objective. It’s been a while since I bought a Marc Jacobs bag and today was the first day of a new beginning. I didn’t plan on walking in to Marc Jacobs but as I passed the store on Melrose in LA, the Duffy series caught my eye. This is a pretty basic bag with very little of Marc Jacobs signature details (mainly the tassel) which to me is a good thing because like I said, this might be a new beginning. What I love is the shape, which is actually very Marc, and the big tab closure which is magnetic and has nothing to do with the buckle. The bigger size Hadarrah is the one I am most interested in, because I like big bags and I can carry it off, but it is also the most proportionate with the big tab, which is the same size on all the models. But in green! The best detail is the bold and bright purple contrasting interior! Love!! The inside of the tassel is also in the contrasting color (yellow has electric blue contrast). I saw the smaller size Shailah (actually comes in 4 models) which is the medium of the bunch in white and I am deciding between the green and the white, that’s why I didn’t take anything home. Another huge reason for my need to have this bag – the price point is fantastic! The Hadarrah is only $995 and the Shailah is $850!! I have to say, the leather is not the super nice soft leather you’re used to, this is a bit thicker with a rougher hand but I plan on using this for travel so I need something that will wear well.
