My skin suffers because of how dry it gets in the winter, but so does my hair and scalp! Thankfully I got some fabulous tips from the folks at Rene Furterer and Klorane that I wanted to share with you:) First, use a humidifier — if there is one that can do the trick it’s Air-O-Swiss ($229.99), though one might not be enough if your room is very big, which is what I realized my problem was — sometimes you need two humidifiers! Then, treat the scalp once a week to a purifying massage with Rene Furterer Complexe 5 Regenerating Extract ($45). Massaging the scalp with Complexe 5’s essential oils of orange and lavender naturally stimulate the scalp’s circulation and create the optimal conditions for the scalp and hair to thrive as well as allowing better penetration of your other hair care products. As far as shampooing people always do it too much — including me — so hard for me to take my daily shower and stop myself from reaching over for the shampoo and conditioner, but as we all know that’s bad! Too much shampooing can strip the scalp and hair of its natural protective oils. By shampooing a bit less frequently, you’ll give your scalp a chance to maintain its natural balance. To keep hair clean and beautiful between shampoos, you can use a dry shampoo such as Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo With Oat Milk ($18) that cleanses your hair without stripping it. I have to say I get eecked by dry shampoos and had bad experiences previously with one from T3, but as far as they go the one from Klorane was actually soothing. More after the Jump!
* Natural ingredients such as shea butter and safflower oil, widely used in skin care products for their moisturizing properties, work well to eliminate flaking on the scalp and hair too. Karité Shampoo and Conditioner by René Furterer ($23) uses shea butter to moisturize very dry scalp and hair. For in-depth moisturizing, applying a weekly Karité Intense Nutrition Oil treatment ($36) will nourish parched hair and scalp. However, if you have an oily scalp with dry hair, then try the Curbicia range.
* If you find that you have a case of severe flaking or true dandruff, which can be fungal in nature, then a more specialized product is needed to do the trick. The Klorane Anti-Dandruff Shampoo with Nasturtium extract can be used — this one is great, they sell it at my local health food store and from my understanding it’s one of their best sellers.
* Drink plenty of water!! Always important. Also, take your vitamins. René Furterer suggests their Rene Furterer Vitalfan Antichute Thin Hair 60 Capsules ($36 for 60 capsules), which they say can work from the inside out to provide hair with specific nutrients to grow stronger, thicker hair. And, as an added perk, you’ll likely see your see nails get stronger too.
* Lastly, wear a hat – it not only keeps you warmer, but it keeps your scalp and hair protected from winter’s damaging elements.
Thanks for the tips! I’m gonnna try using a dry shampoo in between shampoos.
Quick question: How often should we use shampoo then? Every other day? Every 2 days?
Ideally for me personally I try to shampoo no more than 3 times a week, but honestly when I’m in the shower sometimes I have trouble stopping myself! Dry shampoo helps though if you’re addicted to shampooing so I’d use Klorane once a week and shampoo 3..it’s easier to stick to this in the winter..it’s the sweaty summers that make me want to shampoo and condition twice a day!!
The Rene Furterer line is awesome. Love it. I buy it at t beautysak.com.
This is a great product that really does works. It’s not a miracle cure, but it does what it says it does, which is stops hair loss and thickens your existing hair. Overall, very satisfied with the site as well as with the product. Honestly, my hair does look better because of this product.
I feel reassured that my hair will not get anymore thinner and I am glad that my hair will not get any more thinner and I am glad that have seen some regrowth. This herbal shampooing treatment out there that works and is suitable for baldness, especially for women. I’m happy to have my treatment with herbal healing and highly recommend it.
