Who invented the handbag? A caveman to carry his provisions along while he hunted or a cavewoman who needed a sack for the goods she gathered? Whoever it was, the first bag probably looked similar to the Nicci Deerskin bag. A simply constructed hobo with cut out handle made of Alligator crestle; it has a pre-historic feeling to me. Perhaps it’s the strip of leather woven through the handle or maybe the unfinished and deliberately rough look of the edges. It’s as if someone just wanted a bag they can drag off and knock around.
