I always have a scarf with me when I’m out with my kids and now that I am traveling (on a grueling 3 weeks trip!!), I cannot stress enough how essential a scarf is for a mom. It might not be obvious as to why but if you think about it, it makes perfect sense. First of all, as a busy mom, I don’t always find the time to look perfectly put together so a scarf comes in handy when I want to sass up any outfit. And it also covers up stains and spills that are bound to incur on your shirt. We always have a fresh change of clothes for our tots but when do we ever bring a wardrobe change for ourselves? That’s right, never. Scarf over the barf and you can continue with your day with dignity. Also for breastfeeding moms, there is nothing more embarrassing than milk stains that stand out like bulleyes! The scarf also makes a perfect cover up while breastfeeding. And I’m not done yet, the usefulness continues. Sleeping baby but forgot to bring a blanket? That’s right, scarf comes to the rescue. No changing pad and all you have is a dirty park bench? Yup, you got it. You need a big scarf but one that is thin so it fits nicely in your bag but most importantly, one that is machine washable – don’t go for the wool, dry clean only, it is also not as versatile since you won’t be able to use it for the summer. This one from American Vintage is the BEST! And in purple, it will not only brighten any outfit, it is THE color of the season. At Browns Fashion for $120, or any lightweight washable scarf will do.
