Marc, we loved your pink ostrich stam but in purple, you have really stolen our hearts! This electrifying violet purple shade is just the kick we need in our bag wardrobe. Yes, the Stam has been done to death but we can’t help loving its classic shape especially with the supple and utterly sensual ostrich skin. Now that you’re sober and coherent, you might finally live up to your brilliant talent.
And when you do, the Bag Snob Girls will be right behind you with bells and whistles to cheer you on. Until then, however, we must remind you that $5,500 is a wee bit much for your audience. As we said with the pink version, one can acquire a Bottega ostrich for the same amount, why would one turn to MJ? At Neiman Marcus.

I saw the purple a while back in a uk magazine…just love it but not at that price…I would have snapped it up by now if it had been more reasonable!

love the bag… yes, the price is high, but last year ysl muse in white ostrich cost me 4500, and the 35 birkin in ostrich was 15000 last year as well… so maybe the price is not so bad after all.
I do adore the color…but Marc and me cannot hang for 5.5k…sorry Mr. Jacobs!

I have a Nuti and the BV in Ostrich that Tina wrote about earlier. I love my bags, but could not see spending that much on a MJ’s bag.

i would have to respectfully disagree, lori. marc is one of the few designers who is always doing something different: from fall 06 luxe grunge to the ysl inspired art deco of fall 07 to spring 08’s surrealism to spring 09 mary poppins/americana? he’s exciting, unpredictable, and is constantly surprising people.
either you hate it or love it, but it’s a whole lot better than being indifferent to it. mj is never boring. i’d like to know which of his designs you find so repetitive?

I would definately snap up the Stam in the purple at a lower price…..also his bags are copied so much I wouldn’t want to spend that much on a bag that every man an his dog has a copied version!
I know people had spoken about seeing the movie “the Women” how cool where those shades she had that when she walked into Saks picked out the FAKE bag! =)I bet we would be shocked to see some ladies toting fakes!
