Get Happy with Lanvin! Lanvin Happy Partage Bag

lanvinhappypatage.jpgIt was the Chinese Moon Festival this weekend, a time to celebrate the abundance of mother nature and life. The beginning of Fall is always a happy time for me; my son’s birthday is coming up and I have so much to celebrate in my life! What more could a person want? Except maybe a nice Happy Partage bag from Lanvin, how happy will I be with this on my arm? Made of black embossed goat skin with velvet ribbon chain link straps and “Vintage” gold toned hardware, it is a vision of femininity. Zippered pocket at back of bag to hold cell or keys and flap over closure with turnlock cylinder in black finish off the look. Generously sized at 28cm and lined in sexy black satin.

But since I am on a major bag diet, I will just be happy looking and admiring it from afar. If you are looking for a bag to give you major bag mileage, look no further. This is a timeless look and the embossed goat skin gives it a modern touch. $1,495 at MyTheresa.com.

  1. This bag looks very nice, it sort of reminds me of Chanel. Tina, I was wondering how you like your purple Chanel bag that you bought in Paris? I just purchased that same bag in black and haven’t used it yet but I like just looking at it! I was curious if you still love it since you have had time to use it.

  2. You know, the more chain bags I see, the more I don’t like them. I know I should invest in a Chanel bag, but I caught a glimpse of LC on “The Hills” toting a fabulous grey Chanel bag… then I kept thinking, those CHAINS. It looks like an old lady bag. There I’ve said it. I don’t like chains. When I’m 50 I might love ’em. I’m not a fan of this Lanvin, the chain or the shape.

    I.Don’t.Get.It.

  3. I kind of agree about the chains being old ladyish. However, the other day I saw the newest version of the Balenciaga Cherche-Midi with large bakalite links for chains, and the stingray clasp. It was beautiful and very urban looking, especially in black and taupe. The flap on this Lanvin bag does remind me of the Celine “Watch Me Work, Play, Dance” series. By the way, Pheobe Philo is taking over at Celine shortly.

  4. Is goat skin the next exotic? I haven’t seen such a bag before. Love the shape & colour, as it exudes a mysterious Parisian element that I can’t quite put my finger on. Maybe it’d be the bag Bergman would have held onto when fleeing Casablanca?

I’m split on chain links recently, too. I can’t tell if they are starting to look dated or too faddy? And, yes, any reality show vixen that touts Chanel clearly dilutes the brand image, not one I’d want to be caught carrying around. I dropped LV a few years back when I saw too many knock-offs at a mall on a Sat afternoon. And, now Chanel seems doomed on my list. Anyone have a BE & D Garbo? Am debating about one on sale.

Tina/Kelly, I know you value pedigree & heritage in a brand more than the colour of the moment. How do you reconcile such posers dropping wads?

  5. This bag reminds me of the Dior cannage tote (shape, texture). In response to NK’s comment, I agree about celebrities. They are either chosen by designers, because of the way most of them carry any ‘It’ bag (like they’re advertising it), and they probably get discounts on bags that ordinary mortals have difficulty affording. I wonder if some women (esp celebrities) even ‘like’ the bags they’re toting or they’re doing it for designer kickbacks. I personally find chains on bags annoying and dysfunctional for women with long hair. I’ve lost count of the times my hair has been tangled in a chain. I don’t care if the label behind the bag has a heritage or not, if it yanks a portion of my long hair, my relationship with it is over. In terms of establishing a ‘total look’, I don’t think a bag should dominate an outfit, but the way most women in the public eye wear bags, they overtake everything else. Lately, the ‘big bag’ has come to the fore, and really. Some of them resemble overnight bags. I can imagine (if they’re filled with items) the strain on the shoulder and back.

  6. BEST line of the week:

“I don’t care if the label behind the bag has a heritage or not, if it yanks a portion of my long hair, my relationship with it is over.”

    Seriously, I giggled out loud!

PS – I’ve got long hair, too, but yet have to endure such a nuisance.

  7. I rarely pin my hair up, that’s my problem. That and the length of my hair, beyond butt level. I have to say that the problem occurs with shoulder bags. I can deal with tote bags/hand held.

  8. LOVE my purple Chanel bag, use it weekly. It’s so chic and of course I feel smug that not many people have it in the US– the psychology of bags! haha

Enjoy your black one, the tiny matelasse pattern is divine!

  9. Hey “remember me”

Do not attack parents about their children. Working mothers and FATHERS take business trips and their children adapt just fine. Take a message from our two presidential candidates and stay off limits about other people’s children.

  10. I ditto Kloe.

If you don’t like what you read, start your own blog and stop wasting our time reading your rants. We have bags to shop for.

  11. to remember me – you sound like you have serious issues and need to go take it somewhere else. taking it out on the bag snob is not going to help your pathetic existence. go get a life or stop reading thsi blog if you are so bothered by it.

  12. Love the bag, don’t like the nasty comment posted by Remember Me. Agree with Kloe and NK– this is a site about our mutual love of bags. We do not judge how others choose to live their lives.

I’ve been a reader of the snob blogs for over two years, and am constantly shocked by how abusive some of you posters are.

Monica is right, do not attack other people’s families.

Tina and Kelly, please remove this offensive person’s comment. We’d like to keep this post’s discussion about Lanvin bags. Thanks.

  13. Dear Remember me,

Most of us come here to read about bags and catch up on some fashion gossip. This is not an appropriate venue to attack Tina and Kelly. If you have an issue with their personal lives, consider emailing it to them directly, or keeping it to yourself.

  14. I bought the first Lanvin Happy bag at Barneys about a month ago. I really love the bag. It isn’t embossed and the ribbon is grograin. It holds all essentials, without being oversized. I am tiring of the huge bag unless traveling, etc.It is very feminine, and I like to wear the chain in the long way for a different look.LOVE LOVE > TOO CUTE!!

  15. I bought this bag from mytheresa!! The lining is actually jacquard (similar to prada) which is a nice improvement from older lanvin bags. The only complaint i have is that the leather piece doesn’t land square center on the shoulder when carrying it on a single chain. I’m still trying to figure out if it’s a defect or by design. Other than that, I love everything else about the bag.
