Emma Hill introduces her first collection for Mulberry Spring 2009– and we are in love! Hill stepped in just at the right time (as much as we love the Bayswater, we are ready for something new!) and punched up the collection with gorgeous new bags and a ready to wear collection that Kate Moss will surely be snapping up. New hardware, new shapes, a whole new perspective! There is also a metro sexual worthy menswear line including ultra chic man bags– how exciting for our male readers! I am so excited about the new direction Mulberry is taking with Emma Hill. I ranted on the Maggie clutch for fall (not by Hill) and am so pleased to see that there will be plenty to praise in 2009. (Jump for more!)
Best of the bunch is the Jenah bag in white creased leather ($1,195 feels very economic!)– with chain detail and minimal hardware– it is just the casual chic bag we need next spring! The Ava bag is fun and flashy in gunmetal– great for evening.
The Jenah also comes in a baguette shape (left) for those who prefer a daintier bag. Another great slouchy bag is the Shimmy hobo in nude leather. It drops perfectly in a rounded shape with a flat easy to carry shoulder strap (below center).
Colors abound for Spring 2009 and it was no exception at Mulberry. There were coral colored jeans, pink shoes, yellow frocks– all with bags in contrasting shades.
I will feature the mens line tomorrow. Stay tuned!
Mulberry made clutch sized versions of most of the new bags– due to consumer demand. Women love clutches, holding it close to our bodies is much like a security blanket. I was able to use mine to hide a spill recently at a wedding.

I dunno T, I think I’m un-decided about these, there’s a couple I like, They are def not the norm from Mulberry. Not my fav collection of bags, I always liked the O.G Mulberry line.
B..
I like the Jenah baguette, although I wonder how comfortable the chain strap would be. Mulberry is quite a staid brand, so I think that this shakes things up quite nicely. They can’t just rely on the Bayswater forever, and honestly if there’s one in my office, there are 50. (It is admittedly a large office, but really that bag is everywhere).
The link underneath the picture needs fixing though; when you click on it, it shows a pair of C Louboutin No Barre Pumps in nude at NAP (which are btw also luscious). Tina, should we take it that your “diet” does not extend to shoes?
Tina, I just got an email about Anya Hindmarch’s line for Target. It’s previewed on her site now. Any comments? I was considering the Bess in cream as it is 40% off in the sale.
Love the Jenah and agree that this is a big welcome dparture for mulberry!
This is young and fun, hope the prices are low.
i love them, very very beautiful
