I am a bit bored with Fall bags, even one of our faves and always trusty YSL is coming up short (though its ready to wear is to die!). The house is not offering many new styles for Fall, rather, YSL smartly re-issued their most popular bags in updated colors and skin. One of the new additions is the bowler Crest tote with top handles. Reminiscent of the Speedy shape, it is distinctive only by it’s Y stitched logo. I am not that excited about it but I can see the appeal to YSL fans of a grab and go bowler tote as it is quite practical. I like the Volcano metallic leather one best, priced at $1,395. There is also a black version for our sensible girls, $1,195. Another new style is the Emma chain style flap bag in buffalo leather with a cute little muse clasp below for $1,395. It is a ladylike option for the urban YSL girl. Again, I like it but don’t love it. Check out YSL at Saks.com and at YSL.com and tell me what you guys think.
Somehow I knew that you would show us this bag today! Being a YSL fan does not mean that I´d accept all of their bags. This is a one that I will leave for someone else to buy. The ones at Saks are also for others to buy. But if you visit their site, you´ll find some good ones. And if you go to the boutiques-well…A picture of a YSL bag can fool you. YSL bags in person are much better than the photos. I have experienced this several times!
This looks just so…boring. Instead of discreet but elegant logo they ended up with something very lower end high street,I honestly thought you were presenting a cheap thrill when I saw the handles. As for the Emma flap bag, there’s too much going on-chain,studs,cuts,closure.. It seems that everyone wants to come up with something as iconic as Chanel and her chain bags but ain’t gonna happen. Yawn.
I know I’m speaking as a man here…but I’ve always found YSL bags incredibly boring…both men’s (especially) and women’s. Maybe I would have one iconic Muse bag if I was a woman (and I do know men who own one in black). I mean what’s distinctive about the bowler bag above? Nothing, except the big *ss “Y”.
I JUST read mette’s comment after posting my own and I’m indifferent to the bags I see in person at their boutiques. Nothing changes for me. But I will admit that I handled a python bag once and I was amazed at how soft it was.
I like YSL, even the Majorelle (it’s the old lady in me). But I was not impressed with the Muse Two Bag – it looks way to close to the Mulberry Bayswater (or vice versa?). This bag is cute, but the garish Y is driving me insane… The Muse in black is good enough for me.
Not excited about them, but they’re not terrible. They are playing safe.
Thanks Tina. I agree it’s rather plain. And I really don’t like the big chunky Y logo – makes their bags look cheap. This style reminds me somehow of TNA bags for teenage girls. Won’t buy this one, not for over 1K anyway.
I LOVE YSL!!! However, I am not AT ALL feeling these bags, they are not for me. sorry but they are ugly!

I actually think the crest bowler is a good buy. HEAR ME OUT. I have a good friend who, after seeing me daily with my Chanel, Balenciaga, Bottega…has decided its time to upgrade from her Coach bag and make her first luxury handbag purchase (pride consumes me). She loves the shape and functionality of the speedy, BUT she does not want to carry a walking label. An LV bag on someones arm in NYC is about as common as Starbucks on every corner. This bag is perfect for her. It has the same style/functionality, still carries the “label flash” with the “Y” but in a much more subdued fashion. She will feel comfortable carrying this everyday, knowing she is slightly more fabulous because of it…
anyone else think that the ysl emma is an exact knockoff of the lanvin jeanette/hero/happy bag?
Now that you mentioned it…totally. I thought it looked familiar but couldn’t quite figure out why.
