Keeping it Fresh

Anyone else remember when Mariah Carey went on the Ellen show and Ellen DeGeneres told Mariah she smelled like s’mores?? — classic!!! I have to say that I’m very boring when it comes to perfume, I’ve been using Chanel’s Allure Eau de Toilette Spray practically my whole perfume-wearing life, but now that I’m living with my boyfriend I’ve found that there’s one thing even more important than smelling good — having a fresh, clean smelling apartment! Not living alone anymore is great, but it takes a lot of work not least of which is apartment up-keep which is why I’ve been all about diffusers (not only do they last way longer than candles, my furniture is all wood so burning candles gives me faux-panic attacks!). Diffusers have become super-popular lately… I’ve been seeing them all over the place, so there’s an overwhelming amount to choose from and the quality can vary tremendously. Worst of all, some of the diffusing smells have literally turned my stomach upside down (not good when you live in an NYC apartment with only one-bedroom!), but I’ve found 3 home fragrance/bath and body brands that make wonderfully chic diffusers — check them out after the jump!

elizabeth WPerfume Diffuser Lavender, $85 (they have a whole bunch, but lavender is my absolute fav smell!).

verikiraEarthen Natural Reed Diffuser, $52

is made with recycled glass (and comes in lavender as well)! verikira is great — they look chic and supposedly last up to six months (didn’t try it long enough to know for sure, but my mom loved the smell so much I gave it to her and my parent’s living room has been refreshingly delicious smelling every since which considering the large size is very impressive!).

Sweet Grass FarmCitrus Blossom Fragrance Sticks, $29.95 smells fab and I don’t even like citrus typically! In general though I have to say that Sweet Grass Farm’s diffusers are great to test-out different scents. At $30 these are a relative bargain so you can buy a few till you find the smell that’s just right (they have a wide selection to choose from), also the smell isn’t as strong as with the other two (which if you’re living in a small space is nice, but a larger room you’ll probably want to use two).
