Ever since seeing the Louis Vuitton Resort Collection and the Armani Prive Couture Collection — both of which were heavy on bows, I’ve been all about retro chic bows! I think bows work best when they are discreet and used in intricate, unexpected ways (Zac Posen is the king when it comes to this!). I’m not a fan of blatant and over-sized bows a la Anne Hathaway circa the 2007 Oscars when she wore a Valentino dress with a huge black bow smack in the middle.
She has such a cute face, but her slim figure is completely overtaken by the massive bow! She could have done a lot better going with a longer version of something like this black, silk Zac Posen dress. There is something so powerful, yet undeniably sexy and feminine about the beautifully sculpted shoulders and the peep hole in the back.
I could do without the 80s-esque waves on the neckline, but I think this dress is so fun for a cocktail party paired with some black Loubies (with so much intricate detailing going on in the dress it’s nice to keep it simple with the accessories, so I love the idea of giving a touch of color via your shoe’s soles)
