I know some expecting parents (both under 35) who have had this procedure “just to know” if anything is wrong with the baby. These people have no family history of genetic disorders or chromosomal issues. All have had perfectly healthy children before (all with amnios). I see it as their way of selective reproduction. I believe if they discovered the fetus had an abnormality they would choose to end the pregnancy. They say, “We just want to be prepared.” I can understand wanting to be prepared but with no history to cause concern why risk a miscarriage. So, if you found out your child has Down syndrome, do you think that justifies termination? I believe that if you choose to start a family you are prepared to love a child no matter what life may bring. Mom Snobs, what do you think?
