Maclaren Twin Techno Stroller

I desperately needed a double stroller after I had my second girl and my 2 year old refused to use the foot board on my Bugaboo. Plus, if she wants to nap or rest, I end up holding someone and that pretty much defeats the purpose of a stroller. I shot down Phil & Ted’s Sports Buggy because it’s really really heavy and the callapsed size is ginormous!! And it is extremely difficult to attach and detach the second seat. My other option for a super narrow stroller that’s close to the width of a single stroller was this Maclaren. I hesitated even getting a double because I wasn’t looking forward to ramming my way through shopping aisles and being frustrated to tears when I can’t fit through doors. The entire basis of my decision was based on its size so it’s kinda silly to complain about the smallness of this stroller when that was my one and only reason for getting this, but I have a very petite 2 year old girl and she is jammed in there like a sardine. Other drawbacks: the opening and collapsing is stiff; the seat doesn’t recline totally flat; the latch to recline the seat is hard to reach; and the second bottle holder is totally useless because if you recline, the seat is in the way of it. Tot Snob Jori also has this stroller and she hates it. Her issues? She also found it stiff and hard to open, the sun canopy never stays in place, the side lock latches broke in the first few weeks of using, she purchased the stroller because the weight limit is 55lbs per chair and her daughter is 38 lbs and son is 23 lbs (so no where near 55 lbs for each seat) and it is impossible to push and maneuver. I guess you can’t have it all, at least not yet. I’m sure someone will design a stroller that is small and light, yet sturdy enough to handle toddlers. But by then, my kids will all be out of strollers. *Sigh*. Maclaren Techno Twin Stroller – Storm Gray (A113621) available through Amazon for $400.

  1. did you ever find a double you like? I am in need, but I did find the P & T too heavy and too difficult. Any word on a Jane Powertwin or the Baby Planet Unity? I am looking at both of those.

  2. I still have my Twin Techno. I try to travel with it praying that the airline will break it and buy me a new one! 😉

I haven’t heard of the two you mentioned. I will say Baby Jogger (jogging strollers known for quality & durability) just came out with the City Mini series. Their lighest and most compact strollers yet. Weighs just 16lbs and you can use it to run with or head to the mall. If I were looking for a double, I would check out this one.

Hope that helps. Let us know what you decide.
