VMA Fashion

If you didn’t watch the VMA’s, you’re going to get mad at me for making fun of Britney Spears. The pictures of her performance were all pretty decent but if you saw her shake around on stage, you will know what I mean, she should not have made her come back looking like that. Maybe we have higher standards for her because she used to have this kick ass body but she looked very rolly. I really should be more sympathetic having just given birth myself so I will just say that the girl’s got balls! I’m not sure what Lil Mama is wearing but it is not cute and her trying to be makes it even less so.

Perhaps it’s my giant wide screen HD TV but everyone looked very hippy to me. Beyonce wins the award for Awesomely Worst Dressed. That is the most unflattering thing I have ever seen! It has no shape and drapes to accentuate all the wrong parts. I do not blame my TV for this one, she is hot and usually looks great, this was a disaster. Alicia Keys wore a unremarkable dress, the only thing is it was sooo tight and again, my TV deceives me because she looked quite wide (I am not even gonna go into Rihanna and her hot pants, it was a bad bad angle that she was shot from because I know she doesn’t normally look like that!!). I know I am being grouchy, I watched this at 3am and I am on very little sleep but I do not think I am being unfair here.

  1. Tina… you are not being unfair at all. Beyonce looked awful, and Britney’s performance was painful to watch, it was so bad and left me with my mouth open I almost wanted to see it again and again for a good laugh… pathetic, I cant believe this was supposed to be her big “comeback”

  2. I think all the women you mentioned have great bodies (even Britney, who’s thinner than 95% of American women, but just not as thin as she was before 2 kids!)–they just all proved that if you’re not sporting the right shape and fit, you’ll look much bigger than you actually are. I don’t agree about Rihanna, though. That must have been your tv.

  3. You are right about Beyonce but not about Alicia or Rihanna, Black women in general like myself and shaped much different than caucasians and asians in general with womanly curves. Why say that is unflattering, that is what is wrong with fashion, the designers are gay men that want to dress their little boy toys!!

  4. I think if you had known the reasoning behind Lil Mama’s outfit, you might not have thought it so bad, but rather ingenious. The “tunic” that she is wearing with white leggings is supposed to look like a top that a baby would wear, and hence, she thinks of herself as the “baby” of hip-hop. That’s rather humble of her, unlike Mr. I-think-I’m-the-King-of-the-Universe Kanye West (not that I don’t love him, but still).

  5. Kelly I’d like to believe that you are grouchy and not turning into another “perezhilton”.

I’d have to disagree with you on Ms. Keys and Rihanna. They both looked very good in their red carpet outfits.

Beyonce is oh so predictable these days. Big Hair and Gold lame or Silver dress or something shiny. Suprise me already!

Poor Brit. I really feel MTV just used her for the publicity but in the end she has just herself to blame.

  6. As much as I thought Britney should have worn something a little more flattering, to say she was “rolly” is really out of line. For having two children, I think she looks great and would have looked better if she had worn something that flattered her figure. She was in shape, she had abs. I think people are conditioned to think shapeless bodies are attractive and it’s really pathetic.

However, I think her perfromance was horrible and she would have been better off staying home with her kids.

  7. Britney was painful to watch. The song was awful to listen to and the performance went on a little too long for my comfort. I feel sad for her sons when they watch this segment when they’re older.
