I am really excited about summer but every year as I get older I am more worried about sun damage and so should you, even if you are only 19. Early sun damage is actually more harmful than old age sun damage! I have an entire arsenal of products I use when I know I will be out in the sun all day, like playing golf. You will be shocked at how all my Chinese cousins are able to stay so fair even though they play golf 3 times a week. The secret is Shiseido’s line of sun protection. Everyone I know who uses it swears by it and they all look shockingly youthful. Let me just be upfront, if you want a tan or any sort of color for your efforts in the sun, this is not for you, this is a total white out and will block every ray of sunlight from penetrating your skin. The Ultimate Sun Protection Cream with SPF 55 ($33) is quite rich, you probably don’t need much of it but I recommend slathering it on real thick and spend some time rubbing it in. I do end up looking like a Kabuki doll with all that white cream on my face so I use the Sun Protection Compact Foundation ($24, $7 for refills) with an additional SPF 34 to make sure my skin is completely impenetrable and to bring back some color to my face. I’ll be honest, the end result is not the most natural, this is not something you want to do on a daily basis when you go shopping because you end up looking quite freakish (or maybe it’s just me because I don’t usually wear a lot of makeup) but if you want your skin to look good all those other days that you’re not frying it in the sun, you will want to protect it at all cost.
I quite like this too. It doesn’t have that awful smell that sunscreens usually have.
I and my Chinese cousin also use Shiseido subscreens. We are very anal like you, hehe.
It’s quite oily though. I suppose the higher the SPF, the more oily it is?
The SPF in lotions give that oily texture on skin. I am half asian and I love being tan, I haven’t bought this version by Shiseido yet. I like to alternate from using high SPF 30+ to low SPF 15. I am definately going to purchase the compact foundation and wear it over my SPF 15 daily moisturizer from Be Fine Food Skin Care.
