I predict the next step for Marc Jacobs is licensing his name to Sears for a line of polyester elastic waist band pants in mousy colors. At least that’s what it feels like the direction is going based on this crap. First we saw his leather shopper, which was gross but could have been construed as humorous. But this!!?? It is black PVC, otherwise called plastic, with contrasting top stitching to make it look even cheaper and to top it all off, shiny gold hardware. It is a plastic tote with no design behind it (Vivienne Tam did fiberglass fabric bags that were well designed and super chic). I am offended that Marc thinks we are all so stupid as to follow whatever he puts out the way his celebrity pack dogs do. By the way, this bag is $1400 at Neiman Marcus.
ugh, so glad to see you rant about this bag….when i saw it for the first time, i was completely irritated. i mean, i love marc, but good god, does he think we’re idiots?? $1400 for a plastic tote bag….hardly.
OMG what is Mark thinking!!! This can be bought in flea markets…and for $1400.00??? Who is he kidding!!! It’s not even funny to me! UGH
Oh Most Delicious “Bag Thug”,
As many times as we have had the “Marc Talk”, it get so frustrating to have to repeat it.
Bag Afficionados Unite! Ban this foolishness from, not only our eyes, but, from our wardrobes! Let’s leave this for the not-so-fashionable-but-tabloid-fabulous fools who follow Marc blindly! And $1400.00? What crackhead priced this? What part of “Amazingly Wrong” do you not understand? XOXO, HK
P.S. Can we say “Canal Street”, Boys and Girls?
That is ridiculous! When I discovered Dooney&Bourke had some of their most popular bags made in China of PVC, I returned it and refused to pay for that garbage. $1400–try dropping the price by $1399–I could find a better bag at my local dollar retailer…
PVC sometimes looks cool and futuristic to me. This is not one of those times. This puts Marc Jacobs into the Hall of Shame, right next To Michael Kors after last weeks Sacagawea number. The leather shopper reminds me of the kind of thing Japanese tourists ate up at Chanel in the 80’s, and Yupper East-Siders at Prada in the 90’s. And if you lack imagination and have the $$$ why not? But this bag is ghastly. It looks like a giveaway Lancome tote.
I woke up still angry about this atrocious bag!So help me; if a Chinese woman came from the countryside to support her family, by living and working in a factory dormitory, slaved for poor wages and was put out to pasture to die young with no health care, to produce garbage like this to be sold in America for $1400, then there may be more than a fashion crime here! (Not to mention PVC environmental pollution).
