This week Gidget the Clothesaholic is hosting The Carnivale of Couture and she wants to know what our favorite movie costume design is. For us, there is no other movie, love story, musical, leading man and wardrobe. Satine’s (Nicole Kidman) costumes in Moulin Rouge is refined sexy. I wish I can tell you that when I go to a “business” meeting, I wear a bright sexy red corseted gown with a train (but in my mind I am!). What we love about Satine is that behind the hard cold reality of a courtesan’s life, she is just a girl who wants to love and be loved in return. And what better man to fall in love with than the gorgeous and romantic Christian (Ewan McGregor)? He can’t afford to buy you a collection of fabulous bags but his love and poetry set to music will set you free. He will show you truth, beauty, freedom and above all, love! I mean, what more can you want? Well, to be perfectly pragmatic, you can always get a part time job at Neiman’s for loose change and a huge discount and still be able to buy all the fabulous bags you want!! It’s a modern day courtesan’s dream come true.
