Remember when Clarisonic launched a device that could work for your face and body, but the body brush only fit on that particular model – meaning that if you had bought the original you had to update to the newest version to be able to use a body brush? I swear by my Clarisonic, and even though it was a killer to spend $200-plus if you already owned a Clarisonic, I always maintained that it was worth it because it was so uniquely effective. Till now it was the only item I thought was worth completely upgrading. In the same vein as Clarisonic, however, Nespresso has finally launched a machine were you can brew a large cup coffee. Unfortunately, the pods required to make this coffee do not fit into any of their models aside from the just-launched Nespresso VertuoLine.
I’ve been making Lungos with my Pixi, and my machine is set so that out of the one espresso capsule I get a relatively large cup of coffee. But you can’t compare it to what you get from their Verto machine. Just look at the image below. That is not foam from milk – that is the crema that comes simply from popping in a capsule! At $299, it’s a great price for the machine. The expensive parts are really the capsules which are 95 cents each – still less than your corner coffee shop and given that it only takes a few seconds to get your coffee, and there’s no clean-up, it’s a winner in my book. If you love the convenience of capsules and prefer regular coffee over espresso (though the Vertuo can make both), this is a no-brainer. There is simply is no other machine out there that will give you this level of crema. Better yet, they have flavored capsules for the coffee! Vanilla and Hazelnut are my favorites.
