We all have to grow up some time. Whether or not you’ve gotten over the PS1, you have to move along to the PS13. The Proenza Schouler boys say it’s time, and so do I. These guys, magicians in their own right, have struck the ever-so holy grail for any designer: a successful follow up to the It-bag jackpot. It’s an accomplishment worth appreciating. They took the inherent elements of the PS1 (easy-on-the-eye symmetry and an accessible rectangular shape) and worked them into something new.
The PS13 is less fussy than its predecessor, free from the messenger-style straps, but it’s just as bold with a spunky, oversized outer pocket. A super-wide shoulder strap gives an industrial, almost androgynous quality that only adds to the cool factor. There is no denying it’s more serious and grown-up (you can take this to work and look especially sharp, while the PS1 has off-duty appeal), but it still possesses an edgy quality that allows a girl to rock her style. At Barneys New York for $2,495.
Isn’t this very remiscent of L’Wren Scott’s lula weekender?
Saw this in person at Nordstrom yesterday. The main/top zipper is large, awkward, and unattractive. Doesn’t measure up to the PS11 or PS1 IMO
I actually saw this in the large size in grey at Nordstrom and I loved it. I was NOT a fan of the PS1 or PS11 – so overhyped, underwhelming and sloppy. This bag is so modern and fresh. I love the functionality and didn’t find any of the zippers or compartments at all awkward. It is surprisingly and the thick shoulder strap option is comfortable on the shoulder. I think this is a winner, but I don’t see it having the popularity status of the PS1. But, that makes it even better – not everyone and their mother will be carrying one!
