After nearly just a year since gracefully entering the bag scene, Maiyet keeps on dazzling quietly. Their understated sensibility and natural approach to design is always like a breath of fresh air. Especially the Peyton ($1,850). It is so hard to reinvent the tote, but this is a genuinely unique shape that’s still fully functional.
Even though they resemble sweet flower petals, I prefer the bag without the gusset flaps hanging out – only because the ring for the shoulder strap shows. Maybe it can be tucked in, in which case I love the look. Plus, the wings can be tucked and secured across the top, making the tote oval. It’s always nice to have options, and with a detachable shoulder strap, this one gives you plenty. Just watch out for dirt and grime if you go for dusty rose. Suede is gorgeous, especially in this color, but maintenance will be a bitch. It’s going to be a part-time job to keep this clean, and I find having to baby my everyday bags to be a major pet peeve, which, of course, this is meant for. Enter black pony-hair and leather ($2,250), a perfectly luxe solution that makes this purchase a no-brainer. The mixed-skin, ebony Peyton is where it’s at!
