A smooth operator that’s clean to the point of being pristine, this is hands-down the best bag from Michael Kors, both out of his main collection and less expensive diffusion line. He hit the nail right on its sleek head with this one, translating his signature aesthetic of pure, uncluttered lines and slick, modern details. Perfectly boxy, to give the neutral shade a feeling of energy, this is the tote everyone needs. With a center zipper compartment for precious cargo, the bag is divided into to two large sections (which are big enough for a 13” laptop and an iPad). Metal feet keep it unsullied wherever you sit it, but it’s the wide tab, lounging over the top for partial closure, that takes us to the star of the show: the ever-so precise hardware, a simple bar that is sharp, smart, and so very Kors.
If he continues down this path, he will be perfectly positioned to have a whole bag-collection empire (to go with the rest of his massive empire). This would stand out in his high-end collection, but Kors has been generous and is offering a high-end bag for a low-end price. Lucky us. For $300 what are you waiting for? This is a no-brainer, quickie decision that you’ll be grateful for day in and day out. On Net-a-Porter for $300.
Pair with: Get flirty with the menswear trend, and bring on some high shine a la Alexander Wang. His Georgie patent-leather loafers have the flair he’s known for and are sleek enough not to burden your bag. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $495.
