All grown up and now a certifiable fashion force to be reckoned with, the cute twins go badass for fall with a fierce selection of leather tops and vests. Leather skirts, pants, even dresses are now part of daily dressing, but the leather top is still an edgy new frontier. If cut too boxy or with ill-placed seams, it could go all wrong, but The Row gets it right. But, formfitting and sexy, these aren’t for everybody. The Olsens have petite women in mind (these are designers who clearly create for themselves). As always, these pieces are incredibly small.
But if the top fits, wear it! I love the lambskin Gilmore shell ($1,500), a soft and simple cut with lots of attitude (the mid-torso seam and visible back zip make it). The Tauton top ($1,700) has the same skin-skimming shape, but long sleeves are a bit snug in leather. Thankfully, they are all lined (for these prices, they should be). While the V-neck Bramlet top ($1,690) doesn’t have as much shape as the rest, but at least you can breath. The Robertson vest ($1,890) poses the most versatile option and is the perfect layering piece – think turtlenecks, thin knits, and plain white tees.
