The other day I headed to the newest Manhattan Juice Generation located inside Equinox in the Village with two fellow health nuts, mizzFIT and holistic health coach Robyn Youkilis, and all I can say is….Eric Helms I hope you’re reading this because you NEED to open a full on restaurant to give Pure Food and Wine some much needed competition in the incredibly tasty, chic, healthy restaurant department! I love that unlike Pure Food and Wine, Juice Generation offers both raw-vegan options and meat and fish options. They’ve also got countless fresh-pressed vegi and fruit juices (including ones served in a fresh coconut!), awesome guilt-free desserts, and a variety of healthy snacks. This was my first experience at Juice Generation, but I’ve passed it countless times after SoulCycle classes on the West Side where people literally line-up out the door for fresh juices after spinning class. Now I know why.
Helms’ juices come in all kinds of awesome flavors and he has actually developed a cleanse with Salma Hayek, Cooler Cleanse, that regularly introduces new flavors (unlike Blueprint and most of the other popular cleanses). The latest additions are Spicy Hemp Milk (hemp has high levels of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, calcium, potassium, phosphorous, folic acid, magnesium, iron, zing, and vitamins A, E, D and B12), Sweet Green (made with a variety of dark greens and apple to give the body essential vitamins and minerals for proper kidney and liver functioning), and Pineapple Kiwi (pineapple helps digestion and contains an anti-inflammatory agent that helps fight heart disease and arthritis. Kiwis are rich in vitamins, flavonoids, and minerals, and they have as much potassium as bananas).
Juices aside I fell head over heels in salivation mode over Helms’ acai bowls. I seriously could not believe they were healthy. They taste like someone snuck some Haagen-Dazs in them. See how to make them after the jump!
Eric Helms told me that he thinks “that the organic acai bowls at Juice Generation
make the perfect breakfast! Found atop 50 foot palm trees along the
banks of the Amazon, acai is packed with powerful antioxidants and
healthy omegas. This recipe is one of our most popular bowls and is
packed with delicious greens!”
Ladies – I urge you to try this at home. Check-out their website for some other iterations that work in cocoa nibs and other fruits if you’re not into dark greens. The bowls are filling, low in calorie, and absolutely delicious. You can also Buy Acai Powder Online NZ for a portable and nutritious treat that you can take anywhere.

Helms also shared with me the recipe for one of their newest juices, Hale to Kale, and he says that if you’re one of the “many new Juice Generation customers that are a little intimidated by the idea of a “green
drink,” this is a great introduction!” He adds that “beautiful green kale is
available from local farmers during the summer – fresh and
delicious! We purchase all of our apples locally from Red Jacket
Orchards in Geneva, NY. ”
Ingredients:
2 handfuls of kale
1 apple
1/4 lemon
8oz watermelon juice
