Romper and skirt in one? When the SA at DvF showed me the 2 ways of wearing this on the hanger, I was like, those cannot possibly come from the same piece. I had to try it on, just for kicks. Turns out, it is super cute and flattering! You think romper shorts? Where the heck are you going to wear that? But it is silk and flowy and has a great shape so it is more dress than shorts.
This is like the Sybil of RTW, the varied and divergent looks can only be designed by a bona fide genius. You can wear the top off the shoulder, or if you button one side under your arm, voila – asymmetrical top! The top is more like a bib, so you need to wear something underneath (the sides are completely open). I see this is as an opportunity to punctuate your own style, in the orange and white version shown above, it is worn with a differing pattern in the same colors. You can mix it up and wear contrasting colors and patterns, or there is always the safe route of going with a solid cami.
Imagine you’re on a date and after dinner you come out of the bathroom in a different variation – he’s going to think you’re a magician especially because you are using a clutch, not overnight bag. There are many uses for this, least of which is a less shameful walk of shame, you can even show up to work the next day in the same exact thing =) Orange print at
Diane von Furstenberg Ceasar Skirt / Romper for $265 and the solid black at DvF online for $245 (also comes in navy, available at DvF boutiques).
The romper is super cute. And I love the fabric of the skirt but wish it didn’t have that gap with the shorts underneath, it looks like an apron.
